One wall, a whole new room

An accent wall is one of the simplest ways to change how a room feels without a full remodel. A bedroom wall behind the headboard, the wall around a fireplace, a dining room or an entry hall can go from plain drywall to a focal point in a few days. Dark paint on board-and-batten, like the bedroom in the photo, adds depth and texture, while lighter shiplap or vertical paneling keeps a room bright and open.

We build board-and-batten grids, picture-frame molding panels, horizontal and vertical shiplap, wainscoting and other trim-based designs. Before any material goes up, we lay out the spacing on the wall so the panels are balanced around windows, outlets, switches and corners. That planning is what makes an accent wall look intentional instead of crowded or off-center. We also think about the room as a whole, including ceiling height, furniture placement and where the light falls, so the pattern feels right from the doorway.

Built clean so the paint looks right

Paneled walls show every flaw once they are painted, especially in darker colors and with light coming in from a window. We start by finding studs and checking the wall for flatness, then cut and fasten each piece so the lines stay straight and the spacing stays consistent from top to bottom. Joints are tight, nail holes filled, and edges caulked so the finished surface reads as one smooth design.

Accent walls work well in barndominiums, older homes and manufactured homes alike, and they can help hide drywall that is not in perfect shape. Our process

How it works

  1. Pick a style

We look at the room, the light and the furniture, and help you choose a design, spacing and color that fit the space.

  2. Lay out & install

The pattern is marked on the wall, then boards and trim are cut and fastened so every line is straight and evenly spaced.

  3. Fill, caulk & paint

Seams and nail holes are filled and caulked, the wall is prepped and painted if included, and the room is cleaned up.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an accent wall take?

Most single accent walls are finished in one to three days depending on the design, the size of the wall and whether painting is included. More detailed patterns take a little longer.

Will an accent wall work on textured drywall?

Yes. Board-and-batten and paneled designs work well over textured walls. For some styles we add a smooth backer panel first so the texture does not show between the boards.

Can you do an accent wall in a mobile home?

Yes. We locate the framing and use fastening methods suited to manufactured home walls so the boards stay secure and the wall looks solid.
