Why siding and trim fail in Central Texas
Most siding damage we see around Milam and Bell County starts small. A sprinkler that hits the same corner every morning, a gutter that overflows onto the fascia, or a gap in the caulk where the trim meets the window. Water gets behind the paint, the wood swells and softens, and the summer sun bakes it until it cracks. Left alone, one soft board becomes a section of wall, and wasps, ants and termites are quick to move in.
Hail and wind storms add their own wear. Older houses in Cameron, Rockdale and Hearne often have original lap siding or T1-11 panels that have been painted many times over, and that paint can hide rot until a screwdriver goes right through. A careful inspection before any work starts tells us how far the damage actually goes, so you are paying to fix the real problem instead of covering it up for another season.
Repairs that blend in and hold up
Our goal is a repair you have to look for to find. We cut out the damaged boards back to solid wood, check the sheathing and framing behind them, and replace anything that has gone soft. New boards are matched to the profile and reveal of your existing siding as closely as available materials allow, then primed on all sides so moisture can't wick in from the back or the cut ends.
Trim gets the same attention. Corner boards, window casings, fascia and soffit are rebuilt where needed, then joints are caulked and the repair is ready for paint. If we find that a larger section of the house needs attention, we will show you what we found and talk through options plainly. You decide how far to go, and there is never any pressure to do more than you need.
